September

This month’s newsletter covers some timely health and safety topics, with practical reminders for businesses as we head into autumn.

We start with Occupational Health Awareness Week, looking beyond immediate workplace accidents to some of the longer-term health risks employees can face, including exposure to dust, noise, vibration and hazardous substances, as well as manual handling and work-related stress.

With UK Construction Week 2026 taking place at the NEC Birmingham, we also focus on construction health and safety and the importance of making sure that good planning translates into safe working practices on site. We look at how suitable Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), together with regular site inspections and monitoring, can help businesses manage their work safely in practice.

As autumn arrives, we also include a seasonal reminder about slips and trips, including wet entrances, fallen leaves, external lighting and preparing paths and car parks for the colder and darker months ahead.

Alongside our usual round-up of recent HSE news and prosecutions, the newsletter provides practical reminders to help businesses review their arrangements and make sure health and safety remains actively managed rather than simply documented.

If you need support with workplace risk assessments, RAMS, construction site inspections, occupational health risks or any of the topics covered this month, please get in touch with the team at H&B Safety Consultancy Ltd – we’re always happy to help.
